What is the Common Data Set?
The Common Data Set (CDS) is an effort put forth by data providers in the higher education field working with members from various reporting agencies (the College Board, Peterson's, and U.S. News & World Report) to develop a standard set of data items and definitions in order to improve the quality and accuracy of data reporting. The CDS serves as a set of standards and definitions for the OIR to report its data to external agencies.
