Assessment and Retention

Student success is attained through participation and engagement in an intentionally designed sequence of courses and experiences created by faculty and staff to foster the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor development of students. These courses and experiences lead students to achieve high levels of learning and satisfaction with their educational experience and affect persistence to degree completion.

The University of Minnesota Duluth measures the success of our undergraduate students through the assessment of student learning outcomes and campus retention and graduation rates.

Retention and Graduation Rates (Current UMD Retention and Graduation Rates)

Two campus documents, the Student Success Strategy Map and the 30-60-90 Roadmap, provide faculty, staff, and students with key strategies for improving and sustaining student success at UMD.
