Electronic Course Scheduling
Electronic Course Scheduling (ECS) is the portion of PeopleSoft used to schedule course sections. On the Duluth campus, the only period of time departments are able to schedule and/or change data fields within a course section is during ECS Period 1. ECS Period 1 for fall and spring of an academic year opens within the first 10 days of December of the previous calendar year. The next ECS Period 1 dates are:
- Summer 2010 -- October 16 - November 6, 2009
- Fall 2010 -- December 9, 2009-January 15, 2010
- Spring 2011 -- December 9, 2009-March 5, 2010.
In preparation for Period 1, all active and cancelled sections for a current term will roll forward to the corresponding term in the next academic year. Because the courses roll forward, it is very important for the ECS user to check each of the PeopleSoft panels in every course section.
The PeopleSoft path to ECS is Curriculum Management>UM ECS. Under that menu, choose Maintain Schedule of Classes to verify or change course information that has rolled forward. Choose Schedule New Course if the course has not rolled forward but your department now wants to offer it. Choose Schedule Class Meetings if you are making changes to a combined section.
