The Viz Lab Game & Animation Group created an iPad demo game using Unity 3. Unity 3 is an integrated authoring tool for creating 3D video games or other interactive content such as architectural visualizations or real-time 3D animations. Unity is similar to Blender game
engine, Torque Game Builder and Unreal development kit in the sense that an integrated graphical
environment is the primary method of development. The Unity editor runs on Windows and Mac OS
X and can produce games for Windows, Mac and also for devices such as Wii, Xbox 360, Playstation 3
or iOS devices (IPhone, IPod and IPad) with specialized deployment license. It can also produce browser
games that use the Unity web player plugin, supported on Mac and Windows. The web player is also
used for deployment as Mac widgets. Unity comes in three versions, a free version with all the basic
features, a 30 day trial-full version and a commercial full version. Since the popularization of iOS devices
and their ability to be used for gaming has created a large market of casual gamers. iOS being one of
the most rapidly evolving platforms in the world, it consist of more than 50% of the mobile gaming
market. More and more developers, commercial and independent, are developing content targeting
this market.
