Open House Photos - UMD CLA Writing Studies

Welcome to the Writing Studies B.A. Open House!

The Department of Writing Studies held an open house on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, to celebrate and provide information about the addition of the B.A. in Writing Studies at UMD; students will now have the opportunity to declare a Writing Studies major at UMD, effective fall 2009. Photos were taken to comemmorate the event.

A cake celebrated the arrival of the Writing Studies B.A. at UMD.

Heidi Anderson, a recipient of the 2008-2009 CLA Teaching Award, assisted with cutting the cake.

Refreshments were provided for faculty, staff, and students.

Jill Jenson, head of the Writing Studies Department, joined David Beard at the information table, where brochures and interest cards were available.

Associate Dean Jerry Pepper and the CLA Advising staff examined the brochure about the major.
Chad Johnson played a major role in redesigning the department's webpage, which was on display to make attendees aware of another source of information about the major and the department.
Bailey, the department's student worker and a journalism minor, found time in her schedule to support the open house.
Marty Sozansky coordinates the department's internship programs as well as teaches various writing courses. More details about internship opportunities are available on the department website.
