Internet citations

Can only use website if…

·          Published in electronic format, and is peer-reviewed

·          Scientific report published by a governmental agency or non-biased organization

Internet citations are for websites or online-only resources. If you are just reading a published journal in electronic format, you do not need to use the internet citation format.

Internet citations include two extra pieces of information: When you viewed the resources, and the website address. Note below that the year the site was published is included, as well as the date the site was accessed.

Example from OSU website:

Hong P, Wong W. GeneNotes: a novel information management software for biologists. BMC Bioinformatics [Internet]. 2005 [cited 2005 Mar 1]; 6:20. Available from: http://www.biomedcentral.com/1471-2105/6/20
