Tourtiere with Mashed Potatoes
(Christmas pork pie)

This is a variation of a Elma Charron's Tourtiere recipe.


1 1/2 pounds ground pork
1 1/2 pounds round steak, ground
2 cups heaping fresh mashed potatoes
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon cloves
3 large minced onions
salt
pepper
PASTRY-PIE CRUST

Put meat in saucepan and add water and one of the onions. Cook until meat loses its pink color. Add the mashed potatoes; cool. Remove any fat on top. Add all the other ingredients. Divide mixture into three pie tins lined with pie crusts. add cracker crumbs or bread crumbs on top to soak up juice before putting on top crust. Cover with pie crust and bake one hour at 350° . Vent the top of the pie crust.
