1 cup sugar
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup butter
8 medium baking apples, peeled, cored and sliced
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/4 cup water
For topping, in a medium mixing bowl stir together sugar and flour.
Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse bread crumbs. Set topping
aside. For filling, in a large mixing bowl place apples, sprinkle with
cinnamon and nutmeg. Toss then sprinkle with lemon juice and toss again
until apples are coated. Transfer filling to an ungreased 8"x 8"
x 2" baking dish. Drizzle water over apples, then sprinkle with
