Green Beans with Bacon

1/2 pound fresh green beans
4 slices bacon, diced
1 tablespoon butter
2 green onion tops, finely chopped
fresh ground black pepper

Fill a frying pan with just enough water to cover the beans if
they are added. Bring to a boil. Add the beans and cover and cook over low heat until barely tender, about 5-7 minutes. Drain in colander and set aside.

Cook the bacon in the same pan over medium heat, stirring
constantly, until crisp 2-4 minutes. Transfer to paper towel with slotted spoon. Wipe out pan with paper towel. Melt the butter in the same pan over medium heat. Add the onions and saute gently just until soft, about 1 minute. Add the beans and toss with the butter. Stir in the bacon and toss to mix well.

Season to taste with pepper.
