Home

Members of the IO Club enjoy ample opportunities to discuss issues of applied workplace psychology with professionals from many backgrounds and locales.

Club Activities and Events

IOPC is a student-centered club. All activities are driven by the interests of members. Activities we have engaged in the past have been geared toward helping club members learn more about graduate training and careers in I/O psychology.

Past activities include:

•  Speaking to I/O psychology practitioners in private industry (including Dr. Julie Fuller at PepsiCo, Dr. Yuca Hung at Levi-Strauss)

•  Speaking to current graduate students in Ph.D. and Master's programs

•  Speaking to graduate committee chairs regarding the admissions process of I/O psychology programs

•  Visiting graduate I/O psychology programs at Mankato State University and St. Cloud University

•  Attending talks given by practitioners and academics in the field. For example, we drove to Minneapolis in the spring semester of 2003 to hear Dr. Denise Ones present her research on leadership and personality.

Future activities:

•  On January 20, 2005 , we will be driving to St. Paul to see Bruce Sevy, VP, Sales & Marketing, Saville & Holdsworth, present a talk regarding "Beliefs and Misbeliefs: What Really Matters in Selection."

•  There is also a trip planned in the near future to visit graduate I/O psychology programs.
