Advising in higher education is a key component to the overall learning of students at UMD. As an advisor to Health Education majors, I strive to provide you with accurate information and new perspectives on issues involving student life. My goals are: (1) to support you in making informed decisions about academics, health, and career directions, (2) help you develop transferable skills that you can apply in all areas of your life, and (3) explore your passions, strengths, skills, and goals.
Each semester, an email will be sent out to my advisees about pre-registration advising times. You will want to check whether you have an advising hold on your account. If you do, you will need to meet with me before you can register. If you do not have a hold, a meeting is not required but you are still welcome to sign up for an advising time.
We can discuss topics including but not limited to:
Well, that depends on the topic. Normally, you would want to inform me of what your questions are so that I can prepare for our meeting.
If during your advising session, we determine you have questions or concerns that are outside my realm of expertise, I will guide you to someone who can help you.
If you need an advising time during the fall or spring semesters, please see my office hours. I do not have office hours during the summer.
