The road to Prague began almost three and a half years ago. USITT board of directors authorized the Design Expo Committee to publish a new initiative in its application. The initiative linked the biennial USITT Design Exhibition with the Prague Quadrennial. Participants in the 96 and 98 Design Expos would be given consideration by PQ 99 exhibit committee for inclusion in the prestigious international PQ event.We were very pleased to see that 18 from the original 26 Design Expo 96 and 98 winners were chosen for the PQ exhibit. The additional 18 designers were invited from regional and national theatres completing the American exhibit. A total of 36 designers would represent the USA entry in the PQ Exhibition 99.
