The Paint Charge is directly responsible for overseeing all painting activities for an assigned production. The student will coordinate their activities with the shop foreman, technical director, and scenic designer. All painting will match the designers intent and be developed from color elevations, renderings, and/or color models. A prerequisite before becoming a Paint Charge is that: the student experience a formal scene painting class, or participate as a paint assistant in a practical situation, or receive permission from the area faculty.

Paint Charge Responsibilities
..... 1. Establish a paint calendar
    a. With regard to the building schedule, coordinate times to paint both 3-d and 2-d units.
b. Schedule the floor time as well as the paint frame.
  2. Organize paint work calls.
    a. Post all paint calls on three bulletin boards throughout the theatre.
b. Collect a list of interested personel and phone numbers for future work calls.
c. Arrive early to all work calls.
d. Be prepared with a variety of tasks for painters...develop a work list.
e. Always provide a mixture of painting projects as well as utilitarian tasks for your crews.
  3. Organize the Paint area.
    a. Clean paint area, establish a clean working environment, police the area around the sink, counter and floor.
b. Direct volunteer painters and practicum students in the proper organization of painting supplies and adequate techniques in cleaning brushes.
c. Maintain an inventory of paints, dyes, misc. supplies, catalogues and thematic illustrations.
  4. Create paint formulas, coordinating your efforts with the scenic designer.
    a. All paint preparations should be communicated to faculty and staff for their input.
b. Painting techniques should be developed with the scenic designer present and direct assistance by all designers will be encouraged.
c. Required attendance at strike for crew and Paint Charge, for stage and shop restoration.

  6. Student's class schedule attached to a scene shop time sheet. Please keep a record of all work time on the proper form.
  7. Provide a single page self evaluation to the faculty supervisor following the productions strike. (10% of grade)
