TH 4901 Intern Teaching in Theatre
(max crs 9; 3 repeats allowed; A-F only; SP-Instructor consent, cannot apply cr to Graduate School program; QP - Instructor consent)
  Practical experience teaching beginning courses in the theatre department. Students serve as intern teachers, assisting instructor in the administration of the course.
 
Course Objectives
   
1. To learn teaching techniques including:
  a. Developing syllabi
  b. Leading discussions
  c. Student evaluation
2. To take responsibility in a given class for:
  a. Daily attendance records
  b. Daily audio/visual set-up
  c. Getting all handouts to students
3. To advise students in a given class concerning:
  a. Assignments
  b. Grades
  c. Logistics concerning daily assignments
 
Expectations:
 
1. Daily attendance, teaching assistant should be present every class period
2. Grade books up to date and accurately recorded
3. Proper audio-visual set-up each day, when required
4. Availabilty to students before class for advisement
5. Student intern may wish to create a special lecture for an assigned class during the semester
   
  Evaluation:
  Grades to be determined of success in achieving course objectives and expectations.
   
  Individuals who have any disability, either permanent or temorary, which might affect their ability to perform in this class are encouraged to inform the instructor at the start of the semester. Adaption of methods, materials. or testing may be made as required to provide for equitable participation.
