Professor Barry James is a professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Minnesota Duluth. The courses he specializes in are Probability and Probability Models, both five thousand level statistics courses. Both of these challenging courses offer students a chance to demonstrate their learning through homework assignments, tests, and simulation problems. (Probability covers the basic material for the first actuarial exam.)
A mix of graduate and undergraduate students can be found both in Probability and Probability Models. Many students say they enjoy being able to work with people that they would otherwise not meet. Professor James's wife, Kang, also works in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at UMD.
