This course counts as one of the required elective courses for Sociology, Criminology, or Anthropology majors. It will be scheduled in years when there is sufficient student interest. The course emphasizes the racial/ethnic and social class diversity of Chicago. We will spend half a day in the Cook Country Criminal Courts (amongh the busiest in the United States)). Otherwise, we spend much of our time in the many neighborhoods of Chicago, sometimes with the group as a whole but more often in small groups. We travel to and from Chicago by AmTrak from St. Paul(far more comfortable) o stay in the Hosteling International Hostel in the heart of down-town Chicago. For more detail, see the syllabus and schedule.
