Relief?

Well school is out... and I have a job! It's actually only temporary, but they hope to make it permanent (it seems to me that if they want to make it permanent before they've even found someone that the chances are good). I'll be working for the College of Education and Human Service Professions and the University of Minnesota Duluth. I didn't actually "find" this job, it kind of fell in my lap. They were looking for someone to start right away and the right people mentioned me and then the next thing you know I'm starting a week and a half later. If it does become permanent, I'll have to apply and interview just like everyone else, but hopefully by then they'll love me so much they won't be able to let me go.

I'll be doing mostly database stuff. They have a stack of papers with important information on them that they want saved in a database. So my primary job will be to create a number of databases and load all sorts of data in them, either from an excel file or an export of another "database" such as access or file maker (neither of which are actually databases). They also have a lot of other stuff for me to do that I don't think they expected at first, like web apps. They asked me if it would be possible to make it so that students could log in an enter their own information on the web. That kind of threw me of off because I thought that was what they were looking for in the first place. So hopefully I'll impress them and this will turn out to be more permanent. It's a much better opportunity than I could have hopped for right after graduating.
