I'm moving!!
Well, I've been working at my new job for a while now and it;s going pretty well. For a while I was a bit worried, but I'm getting used to it. I've definitely got a lot of work to do. The guy before me was an accountant, and it shows. I'll hopefully more or less be redoing most of his work, but first I have to convince my supervisor it need to be done.
Speaking of convincing... you wouldn't believe what I've been going through to try and get them to get me a Mac! As far as I can tell price isn't even an issue, they're just worried that it won't work because it's a Mac. I've assured them that I will still be able to run Windows, plus I plan to ween all my projects off of everything Microsoft. I end up using my own laptop at work anyway because it's that much easier to work with the servers.
Now that I have a pretty good job I've been looking at houses. I had one that I liked for quite a while, and when I went to actually see it, it sold two days later... I saw a lot of houses that were either small or pretty much a dump. One that was decent had an offer on it, but I didn't like it enough to jump on it and get into a bidding war over. Then I found one I kind of liked. It was decent sized and was a cool older house with really neat built-ins. So I had my parents come up to see that one and one more that my realtor had just over heard that her coworker was about to list that sounded okay. The one I had already saw was nice, but defiantly a project house. The last house I saw was nice. It's nicely updated and he was asking for less than most of the other houses I saw, and I really do like it.
So on Thursday I made and offer. Being as it's not even on the market yet and a few other people showed interest, he came back with a counter offer. It wasn't really much more, still less than most of what I looked at, and with him paying my closing costs I'm still giving him less than his original asking price. So I took it and now I'm buying a house. I close on May 30th. I'll put some pictures up (even though most of the few people that read this will see it soon after I move in).
