A completely Unplanned Weekend.

My roommates went away for the weekend, as I had planned to. On Friday I was going to go to Dusty's cabin for the weekend, then I found out that no one was going to be there until 11 and it was going to be bad weather all weekend. The weather would have been tolerable because we could just hang out in the cabin and had a fire, but for once I used what I thin was better judgment and stayed home to get stuff done.

Friday night I went out with a guy from work and a couple of his friends. We Adventist to try this new Italian Cafe place in town but it was crowded, and they don't actually seat people, so they couldn't even tell us how long it would be. So instead we walked down the road to the Brewhouse and ate there. They have beer fries and the best cheesecake I've ever had, so I was a good alternative. There was music later at night, and people were dancing... at the Brewhouse... there is no dancing at the Brewhouse!

Saturday I worked on my graphics homework pretty much all day. We've moved from lines to triangles. I did manage to finish though, and in total it didn't take nearly as long as lines. It's interesting how the shape is easier to draw than the line because it's just defined by boundaries and doesn't have all the special cases that a line does. My uncle Scott and aunt Lori we're also in town for the day to help my cousin Jenny out with some stuff, so they called me later and we went out for dinner. We were originally going to eat at Little Angie's, a tex-mex place, but they we're a little busy, Scott hadn't ever eaten at Old Chicago and wanted to watch the Michigan Nortre Dame game, so we headed over there instead.

Sunday my mom kind of unexpectedly came up and brought me some stuff and we took care of a couple of things. We went up the shore and ate at Betty's Pies, which was extremely busy, and went to Gooseburry for a while. Monday, my friend Kevin and I went to the Italian place for lunch, which was okay, but not the best either. Afterwards we went and saw Jet Li's Fearless, which was and excellent movie.

In other news, it seems a though I'll be stating an undergrad research project for my graphics professor. I'll be learning how to program a physics co-processor and then doing some project involving it next semester. For now, he just wants some one to figure out how to program it, and then it would turn into a project at some point, which would involved a surprisingly good wage for the amount of work expected. He didn't think it would be too involved as far as the amount of work it would take, so it should work out pretty well for me.

Been Busy

Things have been busy. School started last week, and I've had plenty to do. I keep feeling overwhelmed, but when I step back and look at it all I realize it's not that bad and I'll be okay. It will be a lot of work, but I'll manage. I'm taking Computer Graphics, Operating Systems and Differential Equations with Linear Algebra. Of the three, I think Graphics will be the one I like the most, but will kick me in the but the most as well. He's moving at like mach 5.

Last weekend was my cousin Nick's wedding. It's always good to see my family (by the way, I'd like to get pictures from people). The wedding, which I'm sure was perfectly normal, was especially weird for me. I've never been to a Catholic wedding... (probably not even a Catholic church for that matter) so it was all very formal for me. The priest was kind of funny because I thought he sounded like Agent Smith... I think this year I'll have spent more time in church than I have in the last... I don't know... 15 years? So it's definitely different for me. The reception was nice and we had a lot of fun. The hotel screwed up, so the bar was open and we definitely took advantage of it!

Yesterday was my roommate Becky's birthday, so we went out to celebrate. Apparently Oktoberfest starts then, so we had all German beer. Not too much else is going on right now. This weekend will be the first I'll spend at home and not had people up since the second week in July... so it will be nice to just relax for a bit, although I'll probably spend the weekend programming...

Weekend - Fun, Week - We'll See How It Goes...

Well, it was a busy weekend, but in a good way. Friday night our friend Dave showed up. We didn't really know when he would show up, so I had already started to make dinner when he showed up, so I fed him some of my curry (mmm, curry). As we were eating Ryan convinced him to go to the Anchor Bar for food instead (Dave liked the curry, but the Anchor is like his favorite place..). So I finished and went with to have a few beers. Later, our friends Chris and Erin came and we went to Sir Ben's which is kind of like a coffee house brew pub. I forgot my wallet, but my friend Kevin was nice enough to pay for me.

Saturday morning Becky and I went and got the keg. We didn't want to be the evil ones that picked the beer that someone didn't want, so we asked the guy at the liquor store to give us either Bud or Miller Light. I was sure that since we were in Wisconsin he would give us Miller, but he gave us Bud Light. It was funny because for most of the night everyone was convinced it was Miller, until they moved it and saw the label. They all claimed it was the best Bud they ever had, but I still think it's physiological. If I could have I would have gotten Labatt's Blue, hahaha! Anyway, I made food for everyone, which went over pretty well and I think there was just enough. Some of us stayed outside late and had a fire, which was fun, and other went inside to play games. I think everyone had a pretty good time. A lot of people showed up, unfortunately others couldn't or wouldn't. I'm really glad I've gotten to see so much of my friends lately though. They're my support group as my mom called them. I really do need them, they make my life so much better. I've had issues lately with people I'd like to be my friends that don't apparently don't care, so it really has been nice that I've seen so much of my real friends lately.

Anway, yesterday we hung out and went to lunch. Some of us went to see Beerfest later. It was pretty funny, but not a movie to go to with any girls... Today Chris and Erin were the only ones left (other than Kevin of course) so we hung out, went to the mall, and went to the Brewhouse for dinner. After they left, I managed to get most of the rest of my room put together, so it feels a bit nicer now. Tomorrow I have classes to look forward to... or not so much... But I have to go. I also have to hope that they have parking passes left as I opted not to stand in line for seven hours today, but word is they usually do. So hopefully everything goes smoothly from here on out.

A Whole Lot of Happenin'

Work is boring, I think the other two guys took the day off and the boss is off doing something elsewhere on campus. Our current project is about ready to be tested, so there's not much to do these days. Dare I say it might be nice for school to start?... Um, no. Anyway, thankfully other things have been going on. Wednesday night my friend Kevin and I when to see the new Pirates movie (I unfortunately haven't really gotten to see very many movies this summer) and it was pretty good, better than what I was expecting, so I liked it; except the end was kind of dumb, like the rushed end of Two Towers.

Yesterday I got lunch for free. At work we have an "appreciation" lunch every year for the student programmers, so we went out for Chinese. Last night Ryan, Becky, Kevin and I went to Old Chicago to meet our friend Mike, only he ended up doing something else... He ended up taking someone from work out on his boat instead, which was fine, just interesting as he was the one that made the plans to go out that night... Anyway, our other friend Dan made it a little later, so I guess that made up for it.

This weekend we're having some of our friends up for the holiday weekend and a barbecue on Saturday, so that should be a lot of fun. We're buying a keg for the first time. I know, we're so wild! (oh wait, are we still talking about me?) School starts on Tuesday, which will be rough, but it will be good to get it over with. This semester I'm taking Operating Systems, Computer Graphics, and Differential Equations. So it might be a long semester, but in the spring I'll only have to take Chemistry and then I'll be done, FOREVER! We'll see how it goes.
