Tomorrow's the Day!!

I've been so busy, at work and at home. Today I printed like a whole forest worth of paper. Every incoming freshman gets a letter and a form for their transcript and then every high school gets a letter and a list of students that are coming in the fall. It ended up being about 5500 pages.

I'm all packed up and ready to move tomorrow. I have everything pretty much set, aside from some unimportant stuff like I might get satellite instead of cable, but that's not too important. Now that it's the end of the day, and my parents have called and said they were on their was up, it's really hit me. Hopefully tomorrow goes smoothly. We're supposed to have scattered thunderstorms, so I hope that doesn't happen during the day. Anyway, it's time to go (for the last time to the rental place!)

Almost There

Well, I've had a pretty good week here. Last Friday I got my Mac at work, which has made things a LOT more pleasant. After work I went down to Rochester for my sister's commencement. That was on Saturday. Our parents, Dusty's parents, his brother Derek and his wife Heather all came. The commencement was kind of boring (they really like their hospital...) but at least it didn't go any longer than it did. After we all went back to the house in Pine Island for lunch and visited for a while. Derek decided to stay over, so Saturday night we played games (including Steel Battalion - expensive video game).

Sunday Dusty's parents had plans to have his family over and see a movie. So my mom came down and we all went to see "Price Caspian", which was really good, although pretty violent for a PG movie. After we went back to the Hanson's and hung out for a while and had pizza and ice cream cake.

This week I've been packing and cleaning. I'm getting there, so hopefully I'll be all ready to move. Yesterday was our staff retreat at work. We had a lunch and there were activities to chooses from. I went kayaking in the lake for the afternoon, which sure beats working. I had a lot of fun, although it pretty hard. It was really windy, they said on the news the night before that we wold haven up to 30 mph winds, so coming back against the wind defiantly wore me out. This weekend I'll stop by a friend's grad/birthday party and it sounds like on Monday I'll be going to a bbq, so between all that and packing, I should be pretty busy until I move (plus I'll have to see Indian Jones...). I'm moving in 9 days, which I'm very excited about, so it's a good thing I'll be occupied.

I Really Need Something to Do at Work

So, pretty much all I've done here since I started is to hold stuff together. I'm trying to convince them that everything more or less needs to be reworked, but that might take some time. There are two major problems with what we have. One is that there's no structure to anything, which makes it almost impossible to fix let alone improve. The other problem is in the automatic process we have. They use a software program that emulates a person entering data into a web page, which was actually designed to test web pages, not to be a substitution for a data entry person. It's horribly unreliable and is pretty much all I do at work. It could be done really simple by just transferring raw data with a little bit of "behind the scene work" as they call it around here, but it would be easy and reliable, and much easier to fix. I actually do work for two departments and one of them is totally on board with me, so that should help.

Anyway, I at least finally convinced them to get me a Mac. My dad says the school has me brainwashed to like them... well obviously it's not just the university as it took me two month of nagging and convincing before the decided it would be okay. It will make things a little less painful when I get that. I've been using my laptop at work in the mean time, but I'll be glad to be able to leave that at home and not to have to go back and forth between two computers. I was surprised that she order a nicer one too. When we talked it sounded like she was going to go with the cheapest one, but she went a couple steps up and got the bigger 24" iMac, which is what i wanted. So that will defiantly be nice.

I've been packing a bit, but not much. I don't have a whole lot of little stuff, so it shouldn't be bad. I'm defiantly ready to be moved though. My roommates have been moving stuff this past week and it makes me want to be moved as well. It's not far off though, only two and a half weeks. I've pretty much got everything worked out though, so the most I have to do is sign everything on closing day and move. Hopefully everything continues to go smoothly.

#"I Can't Count Anymore"th Reason I'm Glad I'm Moving

I had a pretty decent weekend overall here. Friday night I watched all the SciFi shows and hung out with a friend a bit. We intended to play a new game we got online, but apparently it has some bugs and for now we can't play. So that was a little frustrating. Saturday we got Chinese for lunch and then Dave and I went to see Ironman. The movie was good, but not quite what I expected. Saturday night I just hung out and watched a movie, I know, exciting... Sunday we went out for breakfast and did ran some errands. Ryan and I helped Becky fold paper lilies for their wedding, again, very exciting, and watched "The Golden Compass" on Blu-ray Sunday night. So it was a decent weekends.

Anyway, when I got up yesterday there were an abnormal amount of sirens... We hear a lot since we live close to the freeway and another highway, but it was kind of ridiculous. When we left the house we saw down the road they had it blocked off and it looked like they were severing something. When we got back and there was like an audience in the road, we asked what was going on. The ladies on the street said there was a fire and they had already found a child burnt to death. So we made it a point to watch the news last night. Apparently three people died and the police suspect arson... Just another reason why where we live sucks. I'm so glad to be moving away from this neighborhood.

Inspection

I had my home inspection last night. It went pretty well, nothing that really needed to be done. No pictures of the inside, but here's a picture the inspector took of the front.
