Breaking the Law?
I managed to get pulled over last night. It was actually really dumb. I was at stop sign and when it was clear I let off the break to go. As I looked back there was a car coming so I tried to stop, but ended up rolling out a little too far. This car happened to be a cop, which was fine, I totally expected to get pulled over because I pretty much deserved it. The guy was obviously crabby about something though, which is really what made it stupid. It really was a relatively small thing, like when you accidentally pull out a little in the parking lot when you can't see, but the guy made it out like I was some kind of retard or something... I think he though I was trying to zoom out in front of him, which wasn't the case, but anyway, I didn't get a ticket of any sort.

Doggy!
Okay, so I haven't written in a while even though I've had a lot going on. I did finally got a dog. She's a Boxer/Pit Bull mix and is about 8 or 9 months old, so she still a puppy but not completely untrained. Her name is Zoa. I got her at the shelter in superior, they apparently just found her running around alone. She's really cute and super friendly, I'll post some pictures later. It'll be interesting to see how things go. She seems to be house broken, but lately it seems like she's been crapping in my house on purpose almost... The last three days she's waited for the 2 minuets when I'm in the bathroom or something. This morning she went before I even got up. I think it's because she got up on the bed in the middle of the night and I kicked her off, so I think she was getting back at me. And she always knows that she's in trouble, so I'm not sure what she's doing. Needless to say we're gonna have a few new rules until she figures it out. I do plan on taking her to obedience training as soon as I can, so hopefully that helps.

How's it Going?
I had a couple of calls last night to see how I was doing, so I thought I'd give an update. Work still sucks. It's getting better... maybe? Things have been running "relatively" smooth, but of course I'll never get to rest. The latest issue is a giant pain and I barely know anything about it. Here's the deal. Every time a student shows interest in the campus, even if they're like 2, they get entered into a database so that when it's the magical year to try and recruit them, we know who to call etc. Normally the number of these prospective students is pretty much the same every, give or take some. Well this year we're somehow thousands of students short... and they just figured this out (even though they're constantly getting reports about it)... and now it's my job to figure out why, when I hardly know anything about it. I did find that students were being entered for the wrong year i some cases and I found about 2,500 stuck in a process that wasn't running. As for the other 3,500... I don't know. The real problem is that it takes FOREVER to get them entered... At least now I have my Mac to cheer me up.
Outside of work, things have been going pretty well. I've been in my house now for one whole month. I'm really liking it, it's defiantly the nicest place I've lived, which is good because I'm kind of stuck with it. I made my first mortgage payment last week, which knowing that I'd be writing a check for that much every month from now on was kind of an interesting feeling. I've got a few plans for it in the near future including tearing up the carpet and painting. For now nothing that costs too much.
A friend has been living there the past month. It's been nice to have someone to hang out with still and go see movies and stuff. He'll be moving pretty much any day now into his own apartment, which in ways is kind of disappointing, but that's okay I guess. I think he feels kind of the same way, but maybe he just likes not having to pay rent :) Which means more then ever, it's time to get a dog! I've been looking online and went to one of the shelters in town. I'm totally ready to have a dog, but not to decide which dog I want. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about getting a dog that isn't a puppy, but we'll see. Any suggestions?

All Moved In
Well, it was a long weekend, but things went pretty well. I closed on the house on Friday morning without any problems. My parents and Dusty were up to help me move and with a truck rental we were done my mid afternoon. I've been able to get most of my stuff put away, so I'm doing pretty well. Saturday was my friend Ryan's Bachelor party, which was pretty fun. That morning the groomsmen went charter fishing on Lake Superior which went pretty well. We ended up with 11 fish, some trout and salmon and a walleye. Sunday we got breakfast and laster in the day I went to Indian Jones with my friend Ethan that's staying with me this month. Now I just need to finish up putting everything away at home for when my friends come this weekend.

Tomorrow's the Day!!
I've been so busy, at work and at home. Today I printed like a whole forest worth of paper. Every incoming freshman gets a letter and a form for their transcript and then every high school gets a letter and a list of students that are coming in the fall. It ended up being about 5500 pages.
I'm all packed up and ready to move tomorrow. I have everything pretty much set, aside from some unimportant stuff like I might get satellite instead of cable, but that's not too important. Now that it's the end of the day, and my parents have called and said they were on their was up, it's really hit me. Hopefully tomorrow goes smoothly. We're supposed to have scattered thunderstorms, so I hope that doesn't happen during the day. Anyway, it's time to go (for the last time to the rental place!)

Almost There
Well, I've had a pretty good week here. Last Friday I got my Mac at work, which has made things a LOT more pleasant. After work I went down to Rochester for my sister's commencement. That was on Saturday. Our parents, Dusty's parents, his brother Derek and his wife Heather all came. The commencement was kind of boring (they really like their hospital...) but at least it didn't go any longer than it did. After we all went back to the house in Pine Island for lunch and visited for a while. Derek decided to stay over, so Saturday night we played games (including Steel Battalion - expensive video game).
Sunday Dusty's parents had plans to have his family over and see a movie. So my mom came down and we all went to see "Price Caspian", which was really good, although pretty violent for a PG movie. After we went back to the Hanson's and hung out for a while and had pizza and ice cream cake.
This week I've been packing and cleaning. I'm getting there, so hopefully I'll be all ready to move. Yesterday was our staff retreat at work. We had a lunch and there were activities to chooses from. I went kayaking in the lake for the afternoon, which sure beats working. I had a lot of fun, although it pretty hard. It was really windy, they said on the news the night before that we wold haven up to 30 mph winds, so coming back against the wind defiantly wore me out. This weekend I'll stop by a friend's grad/birthday party and it sounds like on Monday I'll be going to a bbq, so between all that and packing, I should be pretty busy until I move (plus I'll have to see Indian Jones...). I'm moving in 9 days, which I'm very excited about, so it's a good thing I'll be occupied.

I Really Need Something to Do at Work
So, pretty much all I've done here since I started is to hold stuff together. I'm trying to convince them that everything more or less needs to be reworked, but that might take some time. There are two major problems with what we have. One is that there's no structure to anything, which makes it almost impossible to fix let alone improve. The other problem is in the automatic process we have. They use a software program that emulates a person entering data into a web page, which was actually designed to test web pages, not to be a substitution for a data entry person. It's horribly unreliable and is pretty much all I do at work. It could be done really simple by just transferring raw data with a little bit of "behind the scene work" as they call it around here, but it would be easy and reliable, and much easier to fix. I actually do work for two departments and one of them is totally on board with me, so that should help.
Anyway, I at least finally convinced them to get me a Mac. My dad says the school has me brainwashed to like them... well obviously it's not just the university as it took me two month of nagging and convincing before the decided it would be okay. It will make things a little less painful when I get that. I've been using my laptop at work in the mean time, but I'll be glad to be able to leave that at home and not to have to go back and forth between two computers. I was surprised that she order a nicer one too. When we talked it sounded like she was going to go with the cheapest one, but she went a couple steps up and got the bigger 24" iMac, which is what i wanted. So that will defiantly be nice.
I've been packing a bit, but not much. I don't have a whole lot of little stuff, so it shouldn't be bad. I'm defiantly ready to be moved though. My roommates have been moving stuff this past week and it makes me want to be moved as well. It's not far off though, only two and a half weeks. I've pretty much got everything worked out though, so the most I have to do is sign everything on closing day and move. Hopefully everything continues to go smoothly.
