Multi-media Editorial Intern with New Moon Girls (Print/Online)
Online editorial interns work with adult and girl editors to create help create a wonderful experience for girls at New Moon Girls and on New Moon’s Online Experience for girls ages 8-12, in accordance with its mission of bringing girls’ voices to the world. To do this, the individual must develop and maintain effective relationships with the New Moon online and print editorial staff, the Girls Editorial Board (GEB), and girl and adult contributors. Interns are responsible for a wide variety of tasks and experience much of the process of maintaining New Moon’s Online Experience and print magazine.
New Moon Girl Media is a media company that operates 365 days a year, 7 days a week. Part of your main task as an intern will be moderating the website and working in our content management system. It is mandatory that interns work at least one shift during the weekend; and have a few night and day moderation shifts during the week. You will sign up for the shifts, so they will be on your own time.
Responsibilities
- Create, research, acquire, and edit material
- Maintain strong working relationship with the Girls Editorial Board (GEB) and girl contributors
- Moderate girl discussions on the website
- Moderate NewMoon.com on weekends, nights and weekdays
- Check submissions for factual accuracy before posting
- Write and research materials for Luna’s blog & enewsletter
- Other duties as they arise
- Attend monthly GEB meetings ( nights and weekends) via internet
- Help moderate weekly chats (nights and weekends) with girls
- Attend small group meetings and other miscellaneous GEB projects (via internet)
- Work well with tight deadlines—fast turnaround on projects
Working from home
All staff members of New Moon Girl Media have home offices, everyone works from home. Part of the interns job will be to work from home as well. It is important that each intern is self motivated, has high speed internet, and is able to work well from their home, coffee shop, or wherever they think they can get their work done online. Each intern will start on a 30 day probation period—at the end of 30 days, we will have a conversation to make sure that this is the right fit for both company and intern. You will be expected to work at least 15 hours per week.

All interns are expected to be available for communication by email. An intern email account is provided for each intern.
