Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Degree Requirements
Completion of at least 120 credits

All UMD students are required to complete the Liberal Education Program.
Your minor or 2nd major may come from a collegiate unit other than CLA. For instance, you can major in
sociology (CLA) and minor in psychology (CEHSP) or major in environmental studies (CLA) and minor in
biology (CSE).
Four CLA majors do not require completion of a minor or a second major: English (literature, language and
culture track), environmental studies, interdisciplinary studies, and urban and regional studies.
The following are also part of the B.A. degree requirements:
- A 2.00 minimum cumulative GPA in all U of MN work attempted. (Transfer grades and credits
outside the U of MN are not calculated into the U of MN GPA; however, transfer credits are counted as
degree credits.) - A 2.00 minimum GPA in major(s) and minor(s) courses.
- Completion of at least 30 degree credits at UMD.
- Completion of at least 20 of the last 30 credits earned before graduation at UMD.
- Successful completion of 75 percent of all work attempted.
