How To Graduate In 4 Years
- Successfully complete a minimum average of 15 credits per semester.
- Keep your grades up so you don't have to repeat courses.
- Do not withdraw from courses.
- Actively explore majors and related careers early in your college career in order to
avoid changing majors during your sophomore year or later. Generally speaking, if
you change your major, you may be required to complete additional course work,
which could delay your graduation. - Coordinate your liberal education courses with your major/minor requirements.
- Know the details of your major and minor requirements. If something is unclear, ask!
- Meet regularly with your academic adviser and visit your major department regularly.
- Avoid trying to work too many hours (more than 15 hours/week) while taking a full
academic course load. - Treat being a student as a full-time job. Devote the time (40 hours per week) and
energy (arrive on time and complete all tasks) required of a full-time employee. - Be flexible about when you take classes. If your first priority is to progress rapidly
toward degree completion, then you may have to take classes at times you might
prefer to avoid or that are less convenient with your work or social schedule. - Complete a 4-year academic plan. Long-term planning will help keep you on track.
- Consult your APAS report regularly in order to monitor your degree status.
- Meet all deadlines. Whether you need to file a Change of College form, apply to
move into a major, or file for your degree, many university processes have deadlines. Missing a deadline could delay progress on your degree.
