Senior Benchmark

Confirmed benefits of the benchmark: 
* creates a picture for timely graduation
* avoids procrastination of attending to major/minor modifications
* alerts students to transfer any in-progress transfer work appearing on their record
* allows more meaningful interactions with advisors
* provides the ability to modify tentative plans to accommodate new opportunities (study abroad, internships, research, volunteer, etc).

To expedite the removal of this hold, read all of the following:

• Confirm your record reflects the correct major(s) and minor(s) you plan to complete. View your Enrollment Summary, APAS, or Graduation Planner to verify that the correct major(s) and minor(s) are declared.
  • If anything is incorrect you must correct it.  Add or drop any major or minor through the appropriate student affairs/advising office.
• File any paperwork regarding course substitutions, course waivers, or transfer any missing course work to UMD.  An incomplete record will delay the removal of this hold.
  • Some examples of delays are:
    • Missing degree requirements
    • Undeclared majors or minors
    • Transfer work still reports as in-progress on APAS
    • Sequence of courses not accurate
    • Incomplete use of Grad Planner
• Create or update all your remaining courses using Graduation Planner (plan.umn.edu). Also, enter any notes to explain special plans for a specific term. For example, you have plans to study abroad and list the courses you plan to take.

A CLA Advising advisor will access and review your online Grad Plan. If the plan is complete your hold will be removed within 3-5 business days. If there are problems with the plan the removal of the hold will be delayed.

Note: Submission of your tentative plan is required, but it does not guarantee plan accuracy or plan approval.  In order to assure programmatic accuracy, meet with your adviser regularly, and continue to update your plan.
