Chemical Engineering at UMD, like at other schools is a difficult and stressful degree. There are the classes like separations (ChE 4111) that takes as much work as a semester of classes at the sophomore or junior level by itself. Needless to say there are times when a chemical engineer can feel like he/she lives at school. Luckly the chemical engineering department has a room that if one wished they could practically live in. Welcome to engineering 270.
There are lockers to keep things in, a fridge to store keep food cold, a microwave to warm food up, desks to work at, computers to do whatever, cards to play with, and a radio to prevent it from getting too quiet when noone is around. It's the full package deal, and if you're "lucky" enough to be part of the chemical engineering department and you want a key, go talk to Avis, she is always glad to help. Take a look at what happens in 270 on any given day, the work and the play. |
