Shreveport Soaring Club, Inc.

Our club is a non-profit group, and we get together most Saturdays and Sundays for some fine soaring. Instruction is free to Shreveport Soaring Club members and provided by Wayne Crank, Jr. (we generally provide refreshments after a day of flying for our Instructors!), and tows cost $20 (provided by Larry Pierce of Pierce Aviation). We have three club ships: a Schweizer 2-22, a Schweizer 2-33, and a Schweizer 1-26. We are also in the process of rebuilding two additional 2-22s, and there are several other privately owned gliders on the field. The club initiation fee is $300, with a yearly fee of $75. Rental of club ships is $5 per flight.

Directions:

North of Shreveport on HWY 71 to Belcher, Louisiana; Left on Self Road 1.5 miles, then right on gravel road to the airfield. If you see a brick house to your right (6304 Self Rd.), you have gone about 200 yards too far.
