The University of Minnesota Duluth has reciprocal exchanges with six universities in Sweden and one university in Finland. Only University of Minnesota students can participate in a reciprocal exchange. Besides excellent academic programs at our partner universities, our exchanges offer much more. You will meet students from throughout Scandinavia and Europe as well as other American and international students. These social contacts can enrich and change your life. During school breaks you have an opportunity to travel throughout Europe. Blekinge Institute of Technology specializes in computer programming, engineering and information systems. It is located in southern Sweden in the twin towns of Karlskrona and Ronneby. Duluth's Technology Center was modeled after the Soft Center in Ronneby. Luleå Technical University offers numerous courses in technology and engineering, but also has a wide variety of other courses in English. It is located in northern Sweden on the Gulf of Bothnia. Warm Atlantic currents keep this northern city warmer than you would expect.
Umeå University is a research university of 25,000 located in the City of Umeå north of Stockholm on the Gulf of Bothnia. It offers courses in a wide variety of sciences, humanities, social sciences and business. Växjö University has about 10,000 students and is known for its business school, but also has courses in the sciences, social sciences, humanities, and education. It is located in the City of Växjö in south central Sweden in the "Kingdom of Crystal" where much of the world-renowned Swedish glass is made.
Örebro University is located in central Sweden west of the capital city of Stockholm. A variety of courses in the social sciences, business, and education are taught in English. Jönköping University has some 9,000 students where UMD students may study the fields of engineering and computer science. The School of Engineering is one of the most modern in Sweden, and programs are conducted in close collaboration with the large business community in Jönköping. The city has a population of 118,500 and is a leading transport, logistics and communication center with a strategic location in Sweden on the southern tip of Lake Vattern.
