This course is about the many ways that journalists look for information.
The topics in the course range from the Minnesota Data Practices Act to spreadsheets.
Students will be expected to undertake a variety of research projects on their
own and in groups. The highlight of the class will be a group research project
done in conjunction with the Duluth News Tribune.
All students are strongly encouraged to attend a special meeting of the Duluth chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists from 12 noon-1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 6 in the Solon Campus Center, room 25. Speakers will include Mark Anfinson, a media lawyer, and representatives of the Duluth Police Department, the City of Duluth, and the Duluth School District.
