Directions for registering your Classroom Performance System (CPS) responder

Please enroll today so you can begin earning class participation credit through your CPS wireless responder next week. Please bring your CPS responder to class each meeting.

1. Access the World Wide Web through a web browser.
2. Go to http://www.einstruction.com/.
3. Click on the green tab for STUDENTS (upper right-hand corner).
4. On drop-down menu, select University of Minnesota Duluth (scroll down past initial list).
5. Click Choose Course.
6. New CPS users (who have never registered a CPS pad in a previous semester) work with the left column.
7. Existing CPS users (who have registered a CPS pad in a previous semester) work with the right column.

8. Then do three things:

A. Enter the CLASS KEY for your section

  • Section 1 (Friday): n991m20
  • Section 2 (Tuesday): n1428m16
  • Section 3 (Thursday): n1429m30

B. Purchase an ENROLLMENT CODE by clicking on the "purchase access" link to the right of the enrollment code box. While the UMD bookstore carries a limited number of these, you can buy these cheaper online when you are enrolling.

C. Enter the SERIAL NUMBER on your responder. The serial number is on the back, about an inch from one end. It is printed in black and is barely visible through the blue plastic housing.

9. Click "Join the Class," and proceed through the three-step Enrollment Wizard. That's it! You're in!

Notes:
  • Your user name and password can be the same as your UMD user name and password (but they don't have to be, if you prefer to use something else).
  • Write down your user name and password, in case you forget them.
  • Write down the serial number of your responder, or label it, in case you get it mixed up with someone else's. (Don't mark it permanently, though, or you won't be able to sell it back to the Bookstore at the end of the semester).
  • Once you have enrolled in the CPS CyberClass, you can just click Students, and log in under Existing CPS Online Users (right column). You'll only need your user name and password (not the Class Key, etc.).

If you need help, please ask your instructor or the teaching assistant, or contact eInstruction by going to their home page at http://www.einstruction.com/, or their tech support page at http://www.einstruction.com/master_template.cfm?color=gold&link=techsupport, emailing techsupp@einstruction.com, or calling them toll-free at 888-707-6819. eInstruction's live text chat and phone support are available Monday thru Thursday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING RESPONDERS TO CLASS EVERY DAY. THIS IS WORTH CLASS ATTENDANCE AND PARTICIPATION CREDIT.

Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.
