Education 5414: Utilizing Technology for the Administrative Tasks of Teaching (4 cr)
Focus: Administrative tasks aided by the computer.
*Prerequisite: 5412, 5413 or consent of instructor*


This course is the third in the sequence of the Educational Computing & Technology Certification. Specific course topics will focus on developing basic computer and educational technology skills for the administrative tasks of teaching.

Course topics include: Webquests and Trackstar, PowerPoint on the Web, Advanced Dreamweaver Topics, Creating PDF files, Electronic Gradebooks, Electronic Test Generation, Microsoft Access Databases, Electronic Calenders,  SIS: Student Information Systems, Local and Wide Area Networks, Wireless Environments, Software Evaluation,  Grolier's On-Line and other on-line Reference Materials, Individual School Technology Plans, Assistive Technology, ARCC and their Services (Filtering, Legal Issues, E-Rate), Panel Presentations on "Cutting Edge" Technology Topics, Technology Grant Writing, Updates on New Operating Systems and Browsers, Disassembly and Assembly of Desktop Computers, Electronic Portfolios, Network Administration Software and Security, Filtering in K-12 Schools, Acceptable Use Policies, and a Potential Field Trip(s).
