The state-of-the-art electronic
classroom/laboratory housed within the Department of Education at the
University of Minnesota Duluth is an exemplary technology training
facility. This unique technology classroom provides students with an
excellent opportunity to develop a vast number of educational
computing and technology skills. The facility was designed and funded
by a grant developed by Dr. McCarthy in 1996. It includes both a 24
person computer training facility and an adjacent multimedia video
development studio. Specific components in this facility include 24
current Macintosh Intel based computers with additional
state-of-the-art
Macintosh and PC multimedia computers.
The computer classroom also houses a new Smartboard/whiteboard by Smart-tech
incorporated. Additional computer modules
have been designed and developed to enhance this educational
facility. These include a scanning workstation and access to a
variety of peripherals to include digital cameras, lazer printers,
digital video cameras and high quality computer projection equipment.
Finally, the facility is networked and provides access to a great
number of current software packages which have application for a
variety of student needs.
