Dr. David A.
McCarthy
The Computer & Educational Technology
Certificate/MEd
concentration was designed and developed by Dr. David A. McCarthy,
Professor
in the UMD Department of Education. Dr. David A. McCarthy
attained
his PhD from Iowa State University in Agricultural Education along with
a minor in Agricultural Engineering. Dr. McCarthy has a primary focus
in
Educ 3412 and 5412 but is also involved and has taught the other
courses
in the concentration. Dr. McCarthy has been actively involved in state
and regional technology speeches and presentations such as the TIES
Conference,
the NIACC Iowa Technology Fair, and the Minnesota Association of
Teacher
Educators State Conferences. He is involved in numerous
outreach
teaching endeavors and serves as the Director for the Educational
Computing
and Technology Certificate program and is involved in ongoing
distance
outreach initiatives throughout the region and state.
He has served on two of the four
Minnesota
Digital Learning Plan committees and has been active in several state
and
national organizations.
He and Dana Luehr just completed the
expansion of the UMD technology offerings, in regard to the development
of the Educ 5416 and Educ 5417 which focus on elementary keyboarding
and
computer applications.
This K-8 licensure has been approved by the state. Licensure
#87120.4525 - Teacher of Keyboarding for Computer Applications.
Finally, Dr. McCarthy is actively engaged in the National Association of Teacher Educators
(ATE) and serves as their Technology Planning Specialist and their
official photographer. He continually presents pre-conference
workshops and sessions workshops at both their summer and winter
meetings. Further, he has actively participated on an annual
basis at the Regional TIES
Technology Conference in Minneapolis each fall for the past
decade.

Dr.
Terrie Shannon
Dr. Terrie Shannon is a member of the Early Childhood Education
program. She received her undergraduate degree from Ohio State
University and her Master's degree and PhD from Cornell. Dr.
Shannon's teaches Educ 5413 - The Computer in Education and Educ 3412 -
The Computer in Education.

Dana Luehr received her Bachelors degree from North
Dakota
State University in Family and Consumer Science. She received her
Master's Degree in Education from the University of Minnesota Duluth
and
also completed the Graduate Certificate in Educational Computing and
Technology
at UMD She is also a secondary Family and Consumer Science
instructor at Barnum High School in Barnum, Minnesota. She and
Dr.
McCarthy have cooperatively developed and presented numerous
presentations
at state and regional conferences over the past years including the
regional
TIES Conference and the Minnesota Association of Teacher Educators'
State
Conference. Finally, she has been active on the state level
serving
on the Minnesota's Digital Learning Plan State Committee. Dana
has
taught Educ 3412, 5413, 5414, 5416 and 5417.
She is now currently working on her doctorate (EdD) at the
University
of Minnesota Duluth.

Dr. Jiyoon Yoon received her Ph.D. from Indiana
University,
Bloomington majored in Science Education, Instructions and Curriculum.
Her minors are Studies of Public Environmental Affairs and
Instructional
Systems Technology. Dr. Yoon participated in web-building projects with
extensive experience in motion picture, video, and multi-media
production.
Dr. Yoon is currently working as an assistant professor of Department
of
Education and she has taught Educ5414 and Educ5415. Her research has
focused
on establishing rich teaching-learning environments with the aid of
technology
where teachers and students communicate effectively.

Dan Glisczinski is an assistant professor in the UMD
Department
of Education who teaches Educ 5414 - Utilizing Technology for the
Administrative Aspects of Teaching.
Dan also teaches block classes in the Department of
Education and works some with the graduate program.
Dan has worked in schools in the United States and Central America as a
high school English teacher, middle school Spanish teacher, and
elementary
school principal. Dan's current pleasures include the company of
his family and time spent on the hills and shores of Lake
Superior.

Dr. Bruce
Munson
Bruce Munson is currently serving as the Department
Head for the Department of Education. He is also involved in
science and environmental
educational efforts. Current applications of technology include: WWW
page
development, environmental monitoring programs for K-12 students using
Internet connections, using the WWW for teacher resources, and
accessing
real time data to supplement science lessons.
He has a major technology grant funded initiative
entitled
Water
on the Web.

Associate Professor - Dr. Rallis has been involved in Educ 5413, Teaching with Technology and Educ 5415, Advanced Media Development. She is currently serving in the graduate program and has a special appointment in technology for the College of Education and Human Service Professions - CEHSP.
