Alternative final paper assignment

What is the future of journalism in the United States?

Consider sub-topics such as the future of the American newspaper, the role of blogs, news as a commodity, the function of news for most citizens, etc.

Length: 8 – 10 pages, double-spaced, one-inch margins, endnotes, works cited page.

Task: Review articles from reputable sources, such as the Poynter Institute, the Columbia Journalism Review, the American Journalism Review, the Project for Excellence in Journalism, etc. While using Internet sources, be sure to review carefully the legitimacy of the information. Be sure to use up-to-date resources. I expect you to have a bibliography of at least five external sources, beyond the required and recommended texts for this class (do feel free to use our texts as additional resources). I expect that you’ll review the work you’ve done for the previous assignments and incorporate the best ideas from those efforts in this final paper.
