Guidelines for Preparation of Individual (Short) Lab Reports in Chem 4243, Instrumental Analysis Laboratory

Individual reports should include the following parts.

• Cover Sheet with the following information
  • Title of Experiment
  • Chem 4242, Date Experiment Completed
  • Lab Partners:
  • Report Written by: Your Name
  • Date Submitted
• Body of Report. This is essentially an abridged version of the standard group report, excluding the theory section and full experimental section, and an abridged results section. The body might be a few pages, excluding attachments.
  • Title
  • Abstract. Same as for group report.
  • Experimtental Work. Cite the source for the procedures used. If all procedures were performed as specified, so state. Note any changes from the cited instructions.
  • Results
    • For each section or procedure in the experiment, briefly state the major results obtained.
    • Tabulate any data as appropriate and present it within the text of the proper section, or as an attachment. Include the principal equations and results used for calculated data. Attach spectra, figures, large data tables, and other relavant information. Extensive calculations may be done manually or in a spreadsheet (please annotate your spreadsheet clearly). All attachments should be numbered and annotated appropriately. and should be referred to in the corresponding section of the results.
