History 3316 Social History of the Nineteenth-Century United States |

The aim of this course is to explore the wide variety of theories and arguments about the history and development of the United States during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries as a way to understand social history as a methodology and historical approach. By the end of this course students should have an appreciation for and understanding of the richness and complexity of the history of the American experience in the long nineteenth century, as well as sharpened reading, writing and critical thinking skills. |
