ELEMENTARY SUPERVISION GUIDELINES

You will need to set up a Readiness Meeting with your cooperating teacher and myself before student teaching begins. (this Spring or before school in the Fall) Schools with multiple student teachers need only one Readiness Meeting with everyone there.

I will email all of you most Sundays about expectations for the upcoming observations and a journal topic. Email will be my main source of communication.

You can also call me. LEAVE A MESSAGE AT MY NUMBER. I will schedule my observations with you.

Each time I will need to see:

• Typed lesson plan, including copies of any worksheets or pages from books
•  Journal (email or paper, you choose)
•  Plan book with long range planning
•  You will need to complete  1 (4 week) or 2 (2 week) units. Teach and hand in typed plans.

PUT THESE TOGETHER IN THE CLASSROOM BEFORE MY OBSERVATIONS

During my observations, I will need a place to sit with a clear view of where you will be teaching. I will need to observe the following during your student teaching experience:

1. Reading

2. Math

3. Unit lesson

4. Science/ Social Studies

5. Choice Paperwork pick up

PORTFOLIO

You will add 1 new artifact and reflection for each standard during student teaching. Your portfolio will be collected and graded on my 4th observation. You will be required to come to an end of the semester portfolio meeting on the UMD campus.
