Objectives:

• Students will explore colors of paintings by artists of the Spanish-speaking world
• Students will understand descriptions of paintings and questions about colors: ¿Qué color es?, ¿Qué color usa?
• Students will describe colors of paintings: Es ..., Usa...
• Students will draw painting in the style of one of the artists and write the colors used
• Students will review/learn other colors, depending on pictures used

Materials:

• Art work by artists: Tamayo, Cuban painters, Picasso, Botero, etc.
• Globe
• Word placas with color names
• Paper/Markers

Script:

M: Buenas tardes, clase. Hoy vamos a mirar ejemplos del arte de pintores del mundo de habla española. Recuerden que [DIA] aprendimos 5 colores: amarillo, verde, azul, rojo y morado. Vamos a ver qué colores usan diferentes pintores hispanoamericanos y españoles.

M: Este cuadro es de [pintor], de [país]. [Mostrar en el globo.] [Describe subject matter of painting.] ¿Qué color es aquí?/¿Qué colores usa? [Repeat for other art work.]

M: Ahora, clase, quiero que ustedes hagan su propio cuadro, en el estilo de uno de estos pintores. Marquen el nombre del pintor cuyo estilo usan y escriban los nombres de los diferentes colores que usan. [Show model: Aquí dibujé un gato. El estilo es de Botero. Los colores son verde y amarillo.
