ELEMENTARY SPANISH CURRICULUM PROJECT

First Grade

Topic: Animals

Objectives:

  1. Students will understand and identify the following animals: rabbit, dog, cat, bull, bird, fish, frog, duck, bear, llama, horse, lion, sheep, chick, pig, donkey, gallo (conejo, perro, gato, toro, pájaro, pez, rana, coquí, pato, oso, llama, caballo, león, oveja, pollito, cerdo, burro, rooster).
  2. Students will understand the following expressions: "Tengo...", "¿Qué animal es?"
  3. Students will be able to say the name of the animals, and "Es el..." and "Vive en..."
  4. Students will be able to place animals in correct habitat (casa, jardín, zoológico, mar, granja)
  5. Students will recognize that some animals are common to Duluth and the Spanish-speaking world
  6. Students will sing songs using animal vocabulary
  7. Students will follow a story read to them about animals
