I: Hola/Intro/Song (2 minutes) Begin w/ “De Colores”
II: Comprehensible Input/one-word answers: (5-7 min) Pass out crayons, creyones. Todos tenemos creyones. ¿Cuántos creyones tenemos? ¿Cuántos hay? Abran los creyones y contemos. (Count together.) ¿De qué color es este creyon, azul o café? (try either/or choices, then one word answers.) Give instructions: saca el amarillo. saca el rojo. Bueno... 5 deditos... pass out paper
III: Coloring/listening to directions: (7 – 10) Clase, vamos a dibujar..;; pero, solamente con un (1) creyon a la vez. (Muestra gusano) Escuchen muy bien, saquen.... verde. ¿Qué puedes dibujar con el creyon verde? Allow time for students to draw, repeat instruction and if needed pantomime drawing or draw on your own paper. Use 5 dedos to gain attention, name a new color. At closing, give stickers to students who showed good listening and followed directions.
Note: This can be a good take-home paper, if you print up and attach a note something like the following, to show parents what their children are doing in Spanish.
Today I listened to my teacher, and followed these directions in Spanish. Look how well I did!
1. Saca un creyon verde. ¿Qué puedes dibujar que es verde? (Take out a green crayon. What can you draw that’s green?)
2. Saca un creyon azul. ¿Qué puedes dibujar que es azul? (Take out a green crayon. What can you draw that’s blue?)
3. Saca un creyon anaranjado. ¿Qué puedes dibujar? (Take out an orange crayon. What can you draw that’s orange?)
