- Students will hear and use: " ¿Cuanto cuesta?", "Es caro/barato", "la tienda", "el mercado/el supermercado", "Es de buena calidad"
- Students will understand "regatear"
- Students will become familiar with differences in "el mercado" in a Spanish- speaking country as compared to the United States.
Materials:
- Visuals (from Spanish-speaking country)
- Word placas
Activities:
- Teacher Chatter
- Repetition/One-word/Short phrase answers
- Students will see an example of a transaction in the market. Through this they will learn the accepted behavior and differences from an American market. They will also become familiar with the term regatear.

- Standard supplies for students to be creative in making their product.
- Drawing supplies for students to make signs, etc.

Objectives:
- Students will be able to role-play both sides of a transaction: the seller and the buyer.
- Students will be able to understand "regatear" and understand and use: "¿Cuánto cuesta?", "Cuesta...."
- Students will be able to describe their product: "Es un...", "Es bonito".
Materials:
- Materials needed to make advertising signs.
Activities:
- Students will practice their selling and buying skills.

Objectives:
- Students will use their newly acquired market vocabulary.
- Students will participate in their class market as both a buyer and a seller.
Materials:
- Students’ products
- Fake money (this isn’t necessary but it helps to make the experience more real)
Activities:
- One-half of the students will sell their product and the other half of the students will be the buyers. The two groups will then flip-flop. As a teacher, you should monitor that the students are practicing the new vocabulary. Also, going around to each seller and bartering with them will help to determine how much they are able to use their new vocabulary.

- Students will hear a story about the market.
Materials:
- Book (1)
- Word cards/pictures
Activities:
- Teacher will read story to students. Students will have word cards or pictures. They either can be asked to provide/show relevant vocabulary as the story progresses, or to come up in order as the teacher reads the story.
