Students will have learned this vocabulary in earlier grades. This is designed to recycle family vocabulary, numbers, and the phrase "Me llamo", and also, to add additional phrases and to practice line plots, surveys.

Objectives:

Students will understand the following terms: la familia, el padre, la madre, el hermano, la hermana
Students will identify these people in pictures of families: "Es ...."
Students will tell people's names: "Se llama...", "Me llamo..."
Students will be able to say how many people there are in their family: "Somos + #"
Students will plot the number of family members among their classmates

Materials:

Visuals of the vocabulary words.
Visual of Spanish royal family and teacher's family
Paper on which to write/draw. (stick figures are fine)
Chart to plot the number of family members among the classmates.
If you have access to it, a list of families from around the Spanish-speaking world and the names and total number of family members: for example, Material World.

Script:

M: Buenos días, clase. Hoy es el [número] de [mes]. ¿Cómo están? E: Bien, gracias.

M: Miren, aquí tengo una foto de la familia del rey de España. Este es el padre; se llama Juan Carlos. Esta es la madre; se llama Sofía. Estos son los hijos. Se llaman ....

M: Esta es mi familia. El padre se llama..., la madre soy yo, esta hija se llama..., esta hija se llama.... Somos 4 en mi familia.

M: Ahora, quiero que dibujen en esta hoja cada miembro de su familia. Al lado de cada uno, escriban el nombre (Se llama...). Para el dibujo de ustedes, escriban: Me llamo.... Al final, cuentan las personas y escriban: Somos + #.

M: Estudiante, ¿cuántos son en su familia? E: Somos #. (Hacer la línea para toda la clase.)*

M: Esta muñeca se llama Marta. (Have the puppet ask students: ¿Cómo te llamas? ¿Cómo se llama tu hermano [use drawing to know what to ask.])

M: Bueno, clase, ya termina la clase. Son las 4:00 de la tarde. Hasta el (lunes). ¡Hasta luego! E: Adios.

*Notas
