Objectives:

• Students will listen to and understand the gist of a story about the life-cycle of the butterfly
• Students will understand: patas, alas, antenas, mariposa, huevos, oruga, masticar, morder, piel, crecer, comer, insectos, hojas, pupa, volar, néctar
• Students will view pictures of butterflies of the Spanish-speaking world

Materials:

• Angela Royston, Ciclo de vida de La mariposa (Chicago: Heinemann Library, 2003).
• Word sheets/Photos to retell story
• Internet connection/Projector
• Calendar

Script:

M: Buenos días, clase. Hoy es el [número] de [mes]. ¿Cómo están? E: Bien, gracias.

M: Vamos a leer un libro sobre la vida de la mariposa.* Después, ustedes van a ayudar a contar esta historia otra vez. (Leer, quizá achicando la historia. Pasar palabras y fotos a los estudiantes; leer de nuevo, y los estudiantes levanten su foto/palabra y mueven a lugares específicos durante el recuento.)

M: (Time permitting) Vamos a ver fotos de mariposas en México y España.*

M: Bueno, clase, ya termina la clase.* Son las 4:00 de la tarde.   Hasta el (lunes).  ¡Hasta luego! E: Adios.

• One might use finger puppets of butterflys and caterpillers.
