You should work on these throughout the semester. I have put a suggested start date for this portion. I have not put due dates along the way for several reasons: 1) some things cannot be done (well) until you have done certain readings; 2) some things (articles) will take time to find; 3) the reading assignments are often long, so I want to give you the flexibility to fit these projects in as your schedule allows; 4) you are adults and professionals and should not need due dates.
1. a.
Gather 3 sets of pictures (10 per set) that you can use in teaching. One set should revolve around vocabulary; a second should revolve around a situation (people at party, beach, street scene, zoo, etc); the third should be useful for teaching verbs and verb tenses . In all cases, try to include some cultural authenticity to your pictures.
If you need help, please ask. I have pictures remaining from previous students, available on a first-come basis. There are also National Geographics in H 452, which you may cut up for the pictures. Computer searches may also be useful.
1. b.
For each set, sketch how you would use the pictures. You might use them with TPR, or with question/answer activities, or with story-telling, or.... Vary the activities and the modalities from one set of pictures to the other.
