Here are a few of the many activities available in and around the Duluth area:

Duluth hosts many tourist activities and historic sites.

Many people like watching the ships that visit the city.

Duluth hosts one of the top marathons in the US, as well as an internationally-renown sled-dog race and an increasingly-popular in-line skating marathon!

Many people appreciate enjoying the natural beauty of Duluth and the surrounding area.  Some outstanding places in and near Duluth include:

• The fabulous Duluth Rose Garden
• Many exciting State Parks
• And the nearby Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness
• You can also take a car ride on the North Shore Scenic By-way or Duluth's own Skyline Parkway (for some history, click here). In the fall, you can take a fall colors trip along the North Shore.

Duluth also boasts many cultural activities:

• The Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra
• The Arrowhead Chorale
• And UMD’s own well-respected theatre department

Featuring venues such as the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center (the DECC) and our own Weber Music Hall

And sporting events

• The UMD Bulldogs, especially the three-time NCAA champion Bulldog women’s hockey team.

From a participant perspective, there are also many sports to take part in, including:

• Many golf courses and a curling club!
• You can also ski, both locally and nearby.
• There are many hiking and biking trails, including Duluth trails and the Munger Trail, which runs all the way from Duluth to Hinckley.
