History:
Bohannon Hall was originally called the Education Building, but was
renamed after
Dr. Eugene W. Bohannon (1866-1955) in 1974. Bohannon was the president
of the Duluth State Teachers College, UMD's predecessor institution, from
1902-37. Bohannon was held in high
esteem on the campus and in the community. The hall was built in 1960-61;
a lecture hall and elevator were added while parts of the second floor
were
finished in 1966. The building cost $1.1 million.
