The crackle of the radio startled Officer Jones as he drove his squad car on his usual beat through a quiet neighborhood in the outskirts of town.
“Car seven? Car seven you there?” The voice on the other end sounded burnt out and tired.
“This is seven, go ahead.” Jones wondered what it could be at this time of night, hopefully not another old lady angry that raccoons tipped her garbage cans over again.
“We have a car accident in your area at the intersection of Fourth and Jefferson. It’s a two car collision, possible DWI.” The dispatcher’s voice cut into Jones the way it always did with this type of incident.
“Any reported injuries?” Jones hoped the dispatcher knew the answer, he hated showing up on a crash scene not knowing what to expect.
“None at this point, radio if you need an ambulance. Out” the dispatcher said calmly.
