COMPUTER AND INTERNET ACCESS ARE REQUIREDStudents are required to have access to the following computing resources:

Our understanding is that your login is screened to make sure you are properly enrolled with no holds.
The student cost of the media is less than $12.

The Labovitz School of Business and Economics (LSBE) laptop initiative requires all LSBE students enrolled beginning Fall 2008 to have a laptop or tablet (Microsoft Windows- OR Apple-based system).
Exempt from this requirement are Seniors who will be graduating by December 2008.
The Labovitz School of Business and Economics (LSBE), through the LSBE Technology Program, has entered into an agreement with Cengage (formerly Course Technology)/Thomson to provide each student in this course with a free SAM UserID and SAM Password to access the SAM 2007 Training and Assessment server.
SAM 2007 ver 3 is powerful and easy-to-use training and assessment software that helps you learn Microsoft® Office 2007 applications.
SAM 2007 is supported on the LSBE loaner laptops for check out from LSBE 49 by students who paid the LSBE Technology Fee.
SAM 2007 is supported in the UMD Full Access computer labs for use by the few students who may have paid the UMD Full Access Computer Lab Fee
SAM 2007 is compatible with Windows Vista (SP1) or Windows XP (SP3); Microsoft® Internet Explorer 7, or Internet Explorer 6.
SAM 2007 is not supported by Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Opera, or other browsers.

POLICIES
- Students are responsible for information contained in the official syllabus (this document).
- Assignment due dates and times will be shown in future updated versions of this syllabus (this document) based on actual progress in lectures. Assignment due dates will also be announced in class.
- Beginning Fall Semester 2008 all LSBE students (except seniors graduating in December 2008) should meet the LSBE Laptop Requirement.
- To earn full credit for an assignment, it must be complete and correct before the due date and time.
- Late assignments will not be accepted for grading without evidence that the student is dealing with a situation that is beyond his/her control (illness, etc.).
- Assignments are to be completed in an "open" (unscheduled) lab environment or on your own computer.
There is no scheduled time in which you must attend the computer lab.- Students take their in-class midterm and final examinations with the section in which they are enrolled.
- Make-ups for in-class examinations require the instructor's approval in advance of the examination along with evidence that the student is dealing with circumstances that are beyond his/her control.
- Make-ups for WebVista and SAM 2007 Web-based examinations require the instructor's approval to obtain the password to access a SAM Makeup Exam.
After you have completed any Web-based Makeup Exam, email the instructor to have your makeup score officially recorded.- A course grade of "incomplete" will not be given without advance approval of the instructor and a written, signed agreement with the student for removing the incomplete.
- Students are responsible for abiding by the UMD Policy on the Appropriate Use of Information Technology.
- The in-class final examination is required of all students.
- The course is over at the end of the scheduled final examination period.
Any grading issues regarding assignments or exams should be resolved before the final examination.

- In this class, our use of Web technology will sometimes make students' names and U of M Internet IDs visible within the course website, but only to other students in the same class, and only in a secure, password-protected section of the course website.
