Dreamweaver Website Assignment Guidelines

Designing Websites and Web Portfolios
Purpose:
To develop a professional website with clear organizational structure. This
must be uploaded to your UMD website.
Task:
Create a professional portfolio website using Macromedia Dreamweaver,* demonstrating
a clear understanding of the principles of website design (*If you prefer to
use another web authoring application you may, but please discuss this with
me prior to commencing this assignment).
Specific elements:
A
clearly organized site structure, with files and folders for each
of the portfolio components. Be able to explain and defend your choice of
site design (turn in screen shot (shift-apple-3 on Mac or Print Key on Windows)
showing your site files. See example shown on right -->
- Site plan (in Inspiration). See
example of site plan.
- Appearance and professional presentation: All pages should
be professional in appearance, have a title (check to see that they aren't
"untitled") and free of spelling errors (be sure to run spell check
on all pages). Navigation should be very clear and all links functional.
- Educ 5413 portfolio folder: Your portfolio must include
examples of your work from this Educ 5413 class. At a minimum you should upload
the following assignments:
- Index page: Page should have your name and page heading
(level 1), picture of you (no larger than 2 inches wide and with alt tag),
statement about the purpose of the page, and a table or other professional
format providing links to all assignments in the course, page created
by (your name), e-mail link to your email, and date page last updated.

- Annotated resource list for teaching with technology
- Virtual field trip
- PowerPoint Jeopardy Quiz (or other educational game that you created)
- WebQuest
- Link to you Minnesota eFolio
- Inspiration Assignment
What you should turn in:
- Hard copy print out of your site index page (if your print out doesn't show
page URL, then handwrite this on the page so that I know where to access your
page)
- Printed screen shot showing your site organization (such as shown in diagram
above).
