Assignment Guidelines:

  1. Create a blog for this class by going to blogger.com (or any other blog tool of your choice). The URL of this blog will be shared with the class, so all of us (and any users of blogger.com) will be able to access your blog -- so keep this in mind if you share information that you thought was private and that you didn't intend to share.
  2. Throughout this first week of class record a blog entry in which you reflect on what you have learned that day related to teaching with technology. What you learn is NOT limited to just what I (Helen) taught you, but also what you learned from each other, from reading, from anything you have seen, experienced, or heard related to teaching with technology during the past 24 hours. By "reflect" I mean not only or not necessarilywhat you learned, but more what you are thinking about what you learned (how you might apply it in your own lives; your frustrations or joys from what you have learned; questions you have).
  3. On some days I will give you a specific topic and ask you to blog about it. Example, on Day 2 I asked you to blog about your thoughts on how you might use Virtual Field Trips created by others in your own teaching. To do this, I said locate one of two of the Virtual Tours for your subject that you think are especially interesting and share the URL's in your blog, along with your thoughts about why you like them.
  4. Pick an issue that you are interested in related to teaching with technology and research about it. Do this throughout this course, and record what you learn each day on the topic in your blog related to your purpose. The first time you blog on your research issue, tell us what it is and what you want to learn as a result of researching this issue.
  5. Pick 2 blog partners: you should read each others' blogs at least each day and respond with comments (they may be brief, but maintain an interested and responsive presence). By all means read everyone's blogs, but it's too much to keep up with all of our blogs, so I'm asking you to commit only to two.

Due date:

I will be reviewing your blog throughout the first week of class and assessing it on June 27th. You are not required to blog in week 2, but certainly may want to do so if you are finding it to be a helpful tool
